Jaime's biggest issue is digestion....or lack thereof! He DOES eat, not a ton and not a lot of different textures, but he does eat. Jaime's biggest problem is that he doesn't digest his food. He will either throw up or he's so darn constipated that when he does "go" he needs help because it gets stuck! It's so gross and so not normal! The boy can have all of the Miralax, Milk of Mag and Glycerin suppositories in the world...nothing helps him. We've tried adjusting his foods...nope doesn't work. This is the very reason he doesn't take a lot of volume....he has no where to put it. Often times when he throws up, it will be several hours after eating and will still look like it did going in, completely undigested. I feel so bad for him.
Having said all of this, we have a big trip coming up next month to Cincinnati where Jaime's digestive system will be looked at very closely, along with his lungs. We will HOPEFULLY come home from our week long trip with a plan that WORKS. Poor little Jaime is so miserable sometimes. He's been really clingy the last few days and of course, not sleeping, all because of his digestion.
In other Jaime news...we haven't seen his therapists for a few weeks because they had to "discharge" Jaime when we went to Cincinnati. Anyway, PT and OT were here on Thursday...Jaime had "new" things to show each of them. In the way of PT, Jaime was showing off his awesome stair-climbing skills...he's doing this very well and most importantly SAFELY! :) He also showed her how he's toe walking again...ARGH! None of us are sure why he's doing this again. I'm not sure we're going to do much about it other than stretch his ankles because the leg braces bruise him too much because of his hemophilia. Now as for OT...Jaime has started tucking BOTH of his thumbs in. He was only doing this with the right hand before, now we're seeing it frequently in BOTH hands. So, Jaime will soon be sporting TWO thumb sprints. We're going to remeasure him and order two new ones, so it will take a few weeks, but we'll be using them again. We still use the right one, but he's starting to ever so slightly grow out of it, plus we're going to order "vented" ones which will be much better in the warmer temps! (If it ever gets warm here! HA!)
Other than hitting his terrible twos....all is well. Frequent words heard in our house are "no" and "mine." Usually followed by some sort of "hitting." And Jaime has been seen having temper tantrums. He's so little which is kind of funny to see him throw himself on the ground, but we try not to let him get away with....much! ;)
Something exciting that has happened...Jaime got his first "real" Lego set...OK, Lego Duplo, but still! Jared and I had the unique opportunity to go to the grand opening of the first Lego Store in Northeast Ohio yesterday. Each boy got a Lego set (of course) and Jared got to help a Lego Master Builder create an eight foot tall R2-D2. He had so much fun! I have LOTS of pics to share (if you haven't checked them out on Facebook yet, I put them on Jared's blog), but here are a few of Jaime playing with his first set...a Winnie the Pooh set....and Jared training Jaime to be a brick master! ;)

This pic cracks me up, Jared was literally saying "now Jaime..." telling him how to make the Legos stay together better! HA!
Just to put Jaime's size into perspective...Jaime's wearing his 12 month overalls that he got for his birthday last year! HA! My little peanut...everyone keeps asking what "size" is he and what to buy him for his birthday...I don't even know because shorts will certainly be different than pants! I'm sure he'll be wearing 9mos/12mos shorts. That's OK, we get a lot of wear out of our clothes! :)Don't forget to check out Jared's Blog to view all of the pics that we took yesterday at the Lego Store Grand Opening! http://jaredtrost.blogspot.com/2011/04/lego-store.html
Have a nice weekend!
