Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Thanksgiving 2010

I was so upset about Jaime's surgery being rescheduled that I forgot to mention that Jaime's been home one year! He came home from Cincinnati on November 18th, 2009 after his second admit to the NICU. So, now we've come full circle...a whole year HOME! (with the exception of a few admits here in Cleveland). Mr. Jaime celebrated his second Thanksgiving at home...eating just 2 slices of sweet potatoes and some tastes of pumpkin pie...about the same amount that he had last year. It's amazing how far he's come and yet we have so much further to go!
Overall, Jaime's doing well. Still coughing a bit, but I'm hoping that surgery will still be a "go" on Wednesday. Jaime's still on antibiotics...so is Jared for that matter. Jaime continues to eat what he wants, when he wants. I just wish he'd eat more and tolerate it. He still throws up many nights due to reflux...we're still trying to figure out how to resolve that. No luck yet!
Jaime's walking...running at times, all over the place. He climbs on everything...and is one happy (naughty) little toddler. He still doesn't talk much...a few words here and there, but he communicates through sign language. You always know what he wants! Jaime is still receiving PT, OT, & SP every week. We're hoping that Jaime's words and eating skills will pick up once his ears are better.

Tom's parents were in town for Thanksgiving, so we enjoyed a nice dinner with them. Here is a slide show of some of the pics that were taken over the last 4 days...from Jared's swimming to Thanksgiving to Jared's ice skating...enjoy!

That's about all for now! Please keep Jaime in your thoughts and prayers as we approach his surgery day (Wednesday, Dec. 1st), thank you.
