Today, Jaime's lungs sounded....BETTER! :) He's still having coughing fits on and off and is very tired in general. Try telling him he needs to slow down, though! MAN! That boy is ACTIVE! Even his dr. said he looked wiped out...and that his Mommy did, too!
Having said that, the dr. didn't repeat Jaime's chest x-ray, instead after hearing the circumstances that led up to last week's admit, he put him on Singulair. He's thinking that Jaime has allergies (just like Jared, Tom and I) and that being outside when the pollen was high caused him to have an allergy induced asthma attack! TOTALLY makes sense because his "worst" coughing/junky days have been when the weather changes. As for the right middle lobe infiltrate...he's kind of thinking aspiration like I thought simply because he hasn't had a fever or any traditional symptoms of pneumonia. Of course, this is Jaime, he's probably reherniated and they're reading the x-ray wrong! (Wouldn't THAT be something?!?)
The dr. told us that the worst time to be outside is in the evening, that's when the pollens are at their highest. Of course, Jaime can't stand the heat during the day and that's when we usually take him out, so he suggested taking him out in the morning until it gets really hot. He said he hates to tell any parent to keep their kid inside and windows shut, but...that may be our reality until Jaime's more stable. Hence, the Singulair, we're praying it helps him...that combined with all of his other meds should help him become a pretty normal kid! :) (Pretty normal kid on 5 maintenance meds! OK, now that's weird.) Last bit of news to report, Jaime's back down to 26lbs even (and that's with clothes on). He was up to 26.14lbs. He's been having diarrhea from his antibiotics, I imagine that's why the weight loss occurred. On the plus side, he did eat ALMOST two chicken fingers from Arby's tonight! :)
That's all for now, my friends...please say a little pray that the Singulair works and Jaime can play more like a "normal" child...and that he continues to get better so that he goes to the OR on June 1st. Thank you!
