Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Pulm/Cincy

Quick Update: Mr. Jaime went to his pulmonary follow up appointment on Monday. He's doing amazing, as I posted in my last update. His pulm. was REALLY impressed with him! :) We have a follow up x-ray scheduled for mid-June. Lungs are clear for now though, best they've ever sounded! Woohoo! Again, thank you, Singulair! This medication truly has changed Jaime's quality of life for the better!
Having said all of that...Jaime has decided to stop drinking Pediasure as much as he has been. When Jaime was weighed on Monday, he was down to 25lbs 6 oz. DARN! I try so hard to feed that boy so he gains weight and all he's doing is losing weight...again! (Just to put things in perspective, Jaime's bathing suit in the pictures below is a 6/9mos taken in 2 in. on both sides, yep, a little peanut!) I called Cincinnati today to let them know...not sure they'll do anything at this point, but we'll be down there soon enough. Speaking of...our appointments got changed...again! So it looks like we'll be down there for a whole week at the end of June. In the meantime, we're going to do a sleep study here in Cleveland. Jaime's Cleveland pulm. really wants him to have one sooner than later, so we decided to do it up here and have the report sent down there!
As for Jared, he's totally fine now from his random hive and sinus infection from last week. Actually, by Sunday both boys were outside playing in the sprinkler for the first time this year! Jaime LOVED it...Jared did, too!
Here are a few pics of my boys being boys! :)Now if only we can get rid of these crazy storms, we could actually enjoy ourselves outside longer than an hour here and there!

Until next time folks!

  1. Give that little boy a REALLY BIG HUG for us. We are all praying for Jaime, and parents, to come home very soon. Not much happening here, we are off to pick-up little Joe on July 1st. Summer is here, and we are looking forward to some good times at the pool, with all of the kid, including Jaime and Jared and Joey. Our love, Dale and Majken, and Mom
