Cincy Pics.

Here's a slideshow of pics we took in Cincy and some my sister sent us of Jared.


So, here's a Cincy recap...we left for Cincinnati on Tuesday after I worked and Jared had his ice skating lesson. Jaime was due to be at the hospital at 1:30 for a sedated echo. We spent Tuesday night at my sister's house...thanks, Titi. After some snacks with her we went to bed.
We left just before lunch on Wednesday to go to Cincinnati. We got to the cardiology floor about 1:20. The tech "tried" to do Jaime's echo without sedation...that just didn't go well. So, they decided to sedate him. Jaime got a shot because he doesn't do well with oral medicine. The shot made him "loopy," but it DIDN'T sedate him. After nearly 45 minutes, he was given a second shot. It took a while, but he FINALLY fell asleep. He got his echo which was great and an EKG, too. While sedated, the IV team came to put his IV in and draw his labs. After 4 unsuccessful attempts including in his hand and foot, the IV team "gave up." Jaime fell asleep for a few minutes. When he woke up he was flopping like a fish for hours post-sedation. He was so bad that the nurse had to pad his bed and he had to lay there until he FINALLY fell asleep. He woke up sometime around 9:00 P.M. When he was taken down for his chest x-ray. Tom stayed the night with him and I went to check-in to the hotel.
Thursday was a very early morning. I was up at the hospital around 7ish, anesthesia was in the room when I walked in. Jaime was sleepy, but awake. After hematology, anesthesia and cardiology came in pre-op to check Jaime out, he fell asleep. So, I took him to the OR asleep, anesthesia put the gas mask on him while I held him. He woke up a bit, then was out from the anesthesia. I laid him on the OR table and out we went. He was in there for a few hours, as they did the "normal" heart cath and a research study. Both came out NORMAL as I posted in my previous post.
Jaime went to PACU, for a few hours, then was aloud to come back to his room. He had to lay flat for 4 hours. I held him for a while, but then we put him in his bed. He woke up, played a bit (Bev came for a visit), then went back to sleep and woke up sometime around 11:00 PM, he and I rocked for a bit (I stayed at the hospital and Tom stayed at the hotel), he was a bit restless at night, but overall did great!
Jaime woke up Friday morning, sore. He was saying "boo-boo" and holding his leg. There was some confusion as to how to proceed with his IV Factor (hemophilia meds). It was changed late Thursday from every 12 hours to every 8 hours. There was talk of drawing labs, too. They actually tried to do this, but Jaime's IV was almost out, so the hematologist attending said to just give him his medicine and pull his IV. So, that's what happened. Then, we had to get all of the "sticky" stuff off of Jaime, his heart leads and his cath bandage. He HATED this! Cried the whole time. Then, we were discharged. We had lunch and stopped at the book store. Then went back to the hotel for Jaime to nap...which he didn't! After that, we went to the Luken's for dinner! We had a blast hanging out and eating pizza! We woke up Saturday morning and headed North to Columbus to get Jared! Thank you Titi and Mike for watching Jared for us! He had a really nice time...and he loved "living" with a dog! Tee, hee! We left Columbus and headed up to Cleveland...where we found snow on the ground, but dry roads the whole way home! Both boys got out of the car, walked in the house, took their coats off in the kitchen and went straight to their toy room! HA! After dinner Colleen and the kids came over! We all had a fun time...especially as Colleen and I were trying to pick out our stuff from my Thirty-One Catalog Party! All is back to normal here...Jaime has therapy tomorrow, an eye dr. appt on Tuesday and more therapy later in the week! Wishing everyone a nice week! We're due back there in a few months for the areo-digestive clinic and airway work up!
