Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Better Days...

So Mr. Jaime is back to being on the mend...FINALLY! :) While his infection is better, he's still wheezing a lot. We've been doing breathing treatments every 3 hours. He's pretty happy to have his elephant mask back, too. We are no longer needing the fish mask, also known as the pari-mask. He sits like such a big boy, especially when Mickey Mouse is on! Here he is taking his second breathing treatment today just before his nap!

He just took his last dose of this round of steroids before bed tonight and has 3 more days of antibiotics left. There's been mention of Jaime's tonsils and adenoids coming out in the future, I'm thinking if it does happen, it will be in Cincinnati. Jaime is far too young to get throat infections as severe as he's been getting them. The heck of it all is he's not around anyone...he's pretty much home-bound. He's just susceptible to EVERYTHING! We did go to the dr. again on Friday and his throat looked horrible...very swollen, raw, white tonsils. He also is back down to 22lbs. 8 oz. from 24lbs. I will say that he's been eating like a little pig today! I can't even tell you how many graham crackers he ate and he's a HUGE fan of cheese...he asks for it all of the time. He's been seen drinking whole milk without being mixed with Pediasure, too! :)

In other news...Jared received his report card on Friday and I received a call from his teacher...both were very good, so we thought we'd take him out to "celebrate." He wanted to go to Red Robin. He and Jaime both got milkshakes-it was Jaime's first one. Jaime only drank about 1/8th of his...Jared had a refill of his root beer float. HA! Here are the boys with their shakes! Yes, Jaime is in his PJ's it was his first time out of the house NOT going to the drs, it was chilly out and his PJ's were super warm! :)

Late Friday night, I discovered that our wall in our guest room had rusty water running down it. I emailed our contractor and he came over Saturday afternoon. This is what it looked like....

Today, he and his plumber came over and discovered this....

A nasty, sludge filled corroded pipe that was the main pipe to upstairs bathroom, in particular our shower. They were here all day, they had to cut through the ceiling of our guest room, but they fixed the problem. Later this week we'll have the painters over. Now all we have to do is figure out what to do with that room. We may make it into a computer/play room...maybe Jared's room, though he's afraid to sleep by himself yet. He wants us to get him bunk beds so I can sleep on the bottom bunk and he'll sleep on the top! HA! (I don't think so!) I guess he really likes sharing his room with Jaime. Here are a couple of cute pics of the boys. Jared's playing his flight simulator game and showing Jaime how to fly a plane on the computer.

Speaking of planes...here's Jared's GIANT poster board paper airplane! HA! That boy is obsessed with creating paper air planes these days!

Well, that's all for now! The boys are fast asleep and I'm going to shower in my leak-free shower! :)

Good night, all!
