2010 Year in Review

January: We lost my last living grandparent, my Grandma M. The same day she passed, Jaime was readmitted to Rainbows for a respiratory infection.
February: Jaime, at the age of 10 months, finally crawled for the first time. We also hired our nurse Darlene. (Wow, can't believe she's been with us for almost a year! We just love having her here!)
March: We officially transferred all of Jaime's Cleveland care from Rainbows to the Cleveland Clinic...the team still follows us today.
April: Jaime turned ONE! Need I say anymore?!? :)
May: 1st Cleveland Clinic Admit for Jaime...due to a prolonged (scary) apnea spell.
June: We celebrated my 35th, Jared's 7th and Tom's 40th birthday...AND, Jaime reaching TWENTY POUNDS at the age of 14 months.
July: The "Epic" Journey down south! We met up with several CDH Families, all across the Southeast! What a memorable journey it was! :)
August: After being unemployed for 18 months, I finally started working. This meant lots of nursing care for Jaime. And Mr. Jared started the 2nd grade!
September: Jaime, at the age of 18 months, finally started to walk. We also enjoyed a family reunion...and this was the beginning of Jaime's respiratory illnesses.
October: A trip to the ER caused Jaime to have daily aerosols. The respiratory illnesses (in particular, ear infections) continue. We also, in between illnesses, celebrated Jaime's 1st Halloween at home. He and Jared went Trick or Treating as Star Wars Characters.
November: Jaime was to get ear tubes, but in "Trost-like" fashion, this did not happen because Jaime was ill. We did enjoy a very nice Thanksgiving with Tom's parents, though.
December: EAR TUBES...and a bronchoscopy that shed some light on Jaime's respiratory issues. I completed my HR degree, we celebrated Christmas at home, had a mini trip to Columbus to visit Titi, then left for Cincinnati...which brings me to 2011!!!
January 2011 (possibly February): Another trip to Cincinnati for a heart cath, another bronchoscopy, a sleep study and an admit to Cincinnati Children's, our first one since being discharged from the NICU in November 2009.
Oh and I almost forgot, Jaime is 22lbs. 10oz (5-7%) and 31 3/4 inches tall (15-25%), lots of slow growth, but hey, growth is growth! :)
That's all for now, I'll keep you posted on our Cincy trip once I hear more...it's going to be quite a challenge to coordinate 4 drs. plus anesthesia, especially when 3 of them should be in the OR at the same time. Without going into great detail...the need for all of this is due to Jaime's restrictive airway, recurrent respiratory infections, apnea, poor growth and the potential to cause further medical issues down the road. Please keep Jaime in your thoughts and prayers as we once again prepare him for the OR. Thank you!
