Decisions, decisions....

So after much consideration and many appointments with 3 different local hospital systems....we've chosen The Cleveland Clinic Foundation for long term care for Jaime. I'm sure we'll encounter weird stuff there if admitted, but I really like the idea of the "Team Approach" that was offered from there. Oh and we will be changing Jaime's home therapy team, too...that will be happening later this month. CCF will take that over, too. So, really, all of Jaime's specialty care will be in one place! Also, we will be keeping Jaime's Rainbow pediatrician, as we love her. And we will continue all of our follow up CDH care in Cincinnati. Essentially, Jaime will still have 3 hospital systems giving him care, but the "team leader" will really be Jaime's pediatrician. We'll see how it all goes!

Now on to the fun stuff...Jaime had a "Fine" cardiology appt. yesterday, heart and pressures look good, he still has the PFO (http://my.clevelandclinic.org/disorders/patent_foramen_ovale_pfo/hic_patent_foramen_ovale_pfo.aspx), though and today he had a "good" peds appointment.
Today's stats:
Weight-17.5 5th% for adjusted age
Height-just under 28 inches 21st% for adjusted age
Head circumference-18 inches 60th% for adjusted age
He's on HIS growth curve and that's all the pediatrician can ask for! She was VERY pleased with how well he's doing! Oh and his lungs were perfectly....CLEAR! :) It's always a good day knowing Jaime's lungs are clear!

It was a warmer day, so after Jaime's appointment, Colleen and I took the little ones for a walk. I was so hoping the fresh air would wear Jaime out...no such luck! Lauren fell asleep, but not Jaime. He enjoyed being outside. He was sad when we had to go in for therapy. Speaking of....his OT got him to crawl forward ON HIS OWN! :) He's also s-l-o-w-l-y starting to roll over...and not on accident. He sits up great on his own and has even learned how to get in and out of a sitting position to a crawling one. He gets stuck doing it sometimes, but overall he's progressing nicely. I think he actually MAY be crawling (forward) by his 1st birthday which is just around the corner!!!!
As for eating...well, that's still slow going. Sometimes he's into eating purees...just about finished a whole jar the other night...and then there's days like today...he ate nothing but puffs and bottles. Oh and in my last post I mentioned Jaime's Duocal...the more we used it, the less and less volume he took. He was very full and started to have some awful bowel movements. I think we're not going to use it at this time, we'll be in Cincy next month and see what they have to say.
Oh and before I go...my mother-in-law asked me to write about Jaime's "words". The consistent sounds he makes are: Aboo (bottle), Mama (only when he's upset), Dada, Dahded (Jared), uh-uh (no) and the other day he "said" "ba-ba" and waved....bye-bye?!? He babbles ALL of the time, especially during therapy when he doesn't want to do something. He's very much a giggler, especially when he's tickled....he's SOOOOO ticklish! Plus, his buddy, Jared makes him laugh all of the time. Lastly, he does respond by nodding or shaking his head: yes or no. Again, a lot during therapy...or when he doesn't want to eat or sleep...which is ALWAYS! He hasn't napped in DAYS and still wakes up 3 times a night!!! That makes for one sleepy mommy! :0
I think that just about puts everyone up to date on things here!
Please remember that this is CDH Awareness Month and that we are still accepting baby quilts and small blankets to donate to the NICU that cared for Jaime in his honor! Also, a reminder that March 31st is CDH Awareness Day, please wear your turquoise that day and spread the word about this awful defect! Thank you soooo much!
