Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

"Walking" Video

Jaime was practicing "walking" again with his walker today, so I quickly got my cell phone and shot a mini video.
Walking with the stand up walker, starring Jaime Albert Trost!

Just a reminder that Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) Awareness Day is just around the corner (March 31st.) Only 50% of those diagnosed with CDH will survive, Jaime has beaten the odds. (He was given a 20% chance of survival.) Support Jaime and all of his CDH friends by wearing turquoise on March 31st and spreading awareness about this awful birth defect all month long!
In honor of CDH Awareness Month, we are still in the process of collecting blankets for the NICU at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, the very place where Jaime's life was saved more than once! :) Contact me at sltrost@yahoo.com for more info!
We will deliver these blankets just after Easter when we are due down there for our annual appointments! Hope you'll be able to participate! Thank you to those of you who have already given us blankets for our box! They are all very much appreciated!

Enjoy the video and Happy Spring!!!!
