Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Dream Night 2010 at the Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo

The boys and I joined The Smith's for the Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo Dream Night 2010. This is an annual event hosted by the Zoo for children with significant medical issues. It's a great event, we took Jared for the first time in 2008, as we were invited by Rainbow's Hemophilia Treatment Center. (Connor has Type I Diabetes.) This year we had the pleasure of taking Jaime to the zoo for the very first time! He had lots of fun, he especially liked riding the train (go figure, just like his big bro) and checking out the Rhinos.
Thank you to the Cleveland Zoo and to all that sponsored this wonderful event! We all had a fabulous time! We can't wait to go next year!
Here's a slide show of our photos from this evening!
