Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Ortho Appt.

Good news...NO CAST!
Once the orthopedic dr. looked at the x-ray and checked Jaime out, he said that there was no need to immobilize him. :)
The strange part...as there always is with Mr. Jaime....is that the dr. told us that it was an old injury!?! He said that it was a healing injury that didn't just happen. The bone was already starting to re-calcify itself, correcting on it's own. It was just ironic that Jaime hurt his leg when he did on Friday.
Here's the thing, Jaime has osteopenia (soft bone disease), so the injury could have happened at any point. It kind of makes me wonder what other little fractures does he have, you know!
He's still favoring his leg a bit, but getting stronger everyday. Most likely we're thinking he sprained his knee. He'll be alright, he's a tough guy! :)
Jaime's appointment was in Independence, on the southwest side of town (we live on the northeast side of town), so we went to Hoggy's Restaurant that was near the drs. office. The boys had a good time from seeing the windmill to sitting in the alcove to wearing pig noses! :) I'm happy to report that Jaime ate corn bread and mashed sweet potatoes without incident for dinner! So, in other words, he ate very well tonight!
He's got a bit of a runny nose and watery eyes. We think most of it is related to allergies. He's also teething...his molars are coming in! He's drooling like a faucet! We're hoping he's not coming down with a cold, too! UGH!
Enjoy the photos we took tonight after Jaime's ortho appt today! :)
