Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Another visit to the drs./16 mos. old

I officially started my new job today, (yesterday was an off-campus orientation day) so Tom had to take Jaime to the drs. today. He's still junky and coughing...going on 3 weeks now. Turns out Jaime's having a rough time popping a two-year molar and he now has a pretty nasty ear infection (pus and all...ewe). He's back on antibiotics and we're being a bit more aggressive with the Motrin, poor little guy must be in lots of pain. On the plus side, while he's been coughing, gagging and throwing up, he hasn't lost any weight. He did gain 1 ounce, we'll take it! Every little ounce counts! :) He's 20lbs 13 oz.
Nothing else new to report...no real advancements in therapy...no new words either. His eating has been poor, but that's to be expected giving him not feeling well.
Here are some pics from last night, he really does look good considering he's not 100%!

P.S. As for my job, Day 1 was pretty great and I'm thrilled to have my family officially off of COBRA! :)

  1. I hope Sir Jaime feels better soon and glad that you are now employed! Jared and Jaime - goodness in a few years what will they be up to? Maybe we don't want to know!
