Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Yes, we have another FLASHBACK!

Jaime was whisked away to the OR for his second repair surgery (at 6 months old), 1 year ago today! Here are my "flashback" pics from last year!
Jaime & I pre-op
Jaime after I finally gave him up ready to go to the OR.
The OR team, doing their final checks.
My poor baby boy, post-op!
This was so sad to see an active 6mos. old paralyzed (medically induced)! :(
Jaime's NICU room 1 year ago today!
Fast forward to today...running around with his big bro...and showing off his new orthotics. :)
I can't say it enough...what a difference a year makes! :)
Jaime watching Handy Mandy in his new AFO's.
Getting ready to pounce on me.

Jaime's AFO's from the back...Spaceships on the Right, Planets on the left.
Jaime running after Jared's paper airplanes after dinner! :)

As for a quick update...you can see that Jaime's AFO's FINALLY came in. So far so good! He's only worn them a total of 7 hours, so far, though. We're working them in slowly and watching for any skin breakdown.
Remember our stellar eater?!? Yea...he's GONE! :( The steroids must be completely out of his system because he's back to eating terrible...and throwing up either first thing in the morning or during the night! Reflux affects him a lot during the night. I called Cincy today and was told to alter the time I give him his reflux medicine, we'll see if that helps him! I hope so!
That's about all to report!
Have a good one!
