Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

The Proof is in the Numbers....

One week ago, Jaime was put back on O2 by his pediatrician...not because he was desatting, but because he wasn't gaining weight or growing.
Today's Stats:
Weight: 19lbs 8oz. Yep, he gained 8oz. in a week! :)
Height: 29 inches, up 1/4 inch, maybe, height is a little harder to accurately get.
So, overall, it looks like the O2 IS indeed helping with his growth!
Here are some pics over the last week.
I LOVE Jaime's face in this picture! He was on the verge of laughing!
Ball Fun!
Lil' Pianist!
Notice where the O2 prongs are...he thinks it's funny as he's climbing out of his bouncy house.
New "trick."
That was a lot of work and Jaime stopped just as the steps started to curve near the top.
My what long, light colored hair you have!
Again with the O2...
"New to us" jumperoo...thanks again, Heather (Bill & Shelley, too for arranging to get it to us).
The boy will be a musician yet! He LOVES Daddy's guitar.

Here's hoping that our rainy days stop so we can go out and play! :)
Have a nice day everyone!

  2. Hooray for 8oz. Imagine how big he'd be if the prongs actually stayed in his nose! Hooray for stairs too!
