Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

2 Miracles United....



Finally a Blog Posting-AKA, FINALLY INTERNET that WORKS!!!!
Greetings from somewhere on I-95 South in Florida. We're currently traveling through a nasty rain storm, but we are taking it slow and are safe. So far we've traveled through the winding fog mountains in WV and VA, to North Carolina to visit with the Cole Family, to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean on Tybee Island, GA...then to Jekyll Island, GA to visit the Sea Turtle Center and now, as I mentioned we are somewhere in Florida! This will be our final destination for a few days, then we'll be off to head North again up to Cincinnati for 3 days worth of appointments at the hospital.

Why did I entitle my post this? Well, because in North Carolina we met up with Andy, Beth and Katie Cole (their son, Michael was ill that day, so we didn't get to meet him). Katie was born exactly one week before Jaime with undiagnosed right-sided CDH. She, too had her bowels and liver up and an elongated stomach, just like Jaime. She was operated on at 6 days old and spent 6 weeks in the NICU at Duke. She is an amazing little girl...actually, the whole family is amazing. We met up with them at our hotel, then went to Marbles Children's Museum...the kids had a great time, especially Jared, after Marbles we went to the Parker Reese House. This home was started by Jessica and Ashley Singletary in memory of their beautiful baby girl, Parker Reese(LCDH). From there we went to Red Robbin where we were waited on by a waiter from Connecticut...of all places! We had to ask where he was from since he didn't have the right North Carolina dialect. I swore he was from Cleveland...HA! After that, we went back to the hotel to say our good-byes! We had a wonderful time with the Cole's and can't wait to one day meet again!
We took LOTS of pictures from our little epic adventure, but the most important ones to post today are the ones we took with the Cole's. So, here's a slide show of all of the pics we took in North Carolina; from uniting the children to saying good-bye! Enjoy!
