Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. What Begins with "P"

PIZZA & POOL!

Two things that Jaime did today...he ate pizza for the first time ever and enjoyed it....and he went swimming at the Smith's house for the first time! :)
More Pizza, Please!
Raise your hand if you finished your pizza! :)
Hey, what are you lookin' at?
(Check out his feet!)
Connor & Jared having a blast!
Jared going down the slide!
Who's that lady?
It's Harper! :P

As you can see, a great time was had by all! Thanks Colleen and Ed for having us over and for letting us swim in "David." :)

Only "new" Jaime news...his PT wrote a progress report for Jaime's dr. asking her to write a Rx for either a Benik vest & shorts or a Spio vest & shorts for support. Apparently their similar to a wet suit (it's a type of soft brace), but provides support and stability...Jaime is definitely having issues with walking...balance, awareness of his trunk...etc. He's been having issues for a while, we thought that time would make it better, but the therapist said at this point it's time for intervention. He's kind of at a standstill not really making much progress. So, we're going to the next step to see if this helps. If not there are other things that we can try, but this is step one! Apparently, once you get a physician order, you have to go to the Orthotic store, have him fitted and have them ordered. It's like a 4-6 week process! By the way, has anyone had experience with either of these products?

That's all to report....until next time...

P.S. Don't forget to vote today and everyday through July 31st for Jaime in the Beautiful Baby contest! Thanks! :)

  1. brilliant progress Jaime :)
hope you don't mind this quick question, is jaime ok with eating big things like the pizza, taking bites off, chewing it up and swallowing it? havin had eating problems etc, Lewis used to prefer holding foods himself and 'gumming' them but since he got 2 teeth he takes chunks off things and then there's the risk of choking etc, basically just wondered if Lewis will ever be ok with biting chunks and chewing and swallowing, when he can't even handle purees very well, thats on the rare occasion he takes anything in his mouth lol
