Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

2-28-09-U/S Update

Hello All,

Well, after yet ANOTHER MARATHON scanning session...no real news to report! YEA!

I still have a lot of amniotic fluid, today it was 28.4, the dr. said that Jaime's stomach is "trying" to herniate up into his chest, but it's not fully there and he confirmed the no FRYNS.
Oh and he said that Jaime's "practice breathing" is perfect and he felt that that was a very good sign!
He even said, maybe things will be OK (other than the small lungs, of course) and to keep praying! We can all do that, right?

Here are some photos from today...UH's machines aren't as good as U of M, but you get the idea. I have to tell you that the first photo was taken after Jared said something silly. We told him that Jaime was putting his hands on his head saying, "Oh no, that's my big brother!"

It's nice to not hear anything new...time for us to relax until my next ultra sound in 2 weeks.

Keep the prayers coming...Doctor's Orders! :-)

Love,
Sheryl
