Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

9 Month Old Stats!

Happy, big boy!

So pleased to announce Jaime's growth in the last month....
Weight 16lbs 7oz up 1lb 5oz from last month!
Height 27 inches long up 1 inch from last month!
Head Circumference 17 3/4 up 1/4 inch from last month!

Jaime is doing great in the growing department! Dr. Hellerstein is very pleased with his steady growth over the last few months. He's still hovering around 5% closer to 10% if you adjust his age for his height and weight. His head is about 60%, which is great! As we all know by now, his developmental skills have a lot to be desired! He's several months behind on reaching his milestones, even for his adjusted age! Dr. Hellerstein said that Jaime could probably roll if he wanted to, but he chooses not to. She's not the first person to say that...we've heard this same theme over and over again, it's because he's an older baby and has the mind of one. He knows what feels good (or is easy) and chooses only to do those things rather than work hard. When he does work, he works! His intense therapy sessions (at least the few he's had) really wear him out quickly. Even Dr. Hellerstein did a mini therapy session with him, you could see him physically getting tired. Endurance is one huge goal we'll be working on with Jaime, when it comes to reaching milestones, as well as spoon feeding!

As for Jaime's "illness," well, it turns out it's from teething...thank goodness! Jaime now has his two bottom front teeth. His gums have been very swollen...even bled a little. The teething has caused him to be junky (stuffy and runny nose, cough, fever) and restless at night. Dr. Hellerstein honestly believes it's all from his teeth. His lungs are CLEAR! Woohoo! Tom and I were THRILLED to hear that! So, overall, Jaime's 9 month visit was great! Here are some pics I took on my cell phone, they aren't great, but still cute...my real camera is officially D-E-A-D! :( Fortunately, I had a money left over on a gift card from Tom's parents, so I was able to purchase a new one on sale at Target.com! Can't wait for it to come! Oh and Titi...no coffee near it, please! :)

Best Buds!

I Love my socks!

My 1st balloon!

My 1st sippy cup.
And finally, before I close, here is a movie clip of Jaime. Well, it's of Jaime reacting to Jared! HA! I entitled it: Laughter is the Best Medicine! :)
