Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Evening at theTrost's

Jared has gotten into the habit of having a bedtime snack, always at 8:00 P.M. These days, his favorite treat is vanilla bean ice cream with sprinkles. Here are a few pics we took last night during "evening snack time." Jaime loves this treat, too, minus the sprinkles, of course! (No, they weren't sharing a bowl, I was holding Jaime's bowl...he was trying to toss it off of his tray.)

In this picture, you can see that Jaime has no weight on his left foot. Even with the support of his walker, he won't put weight on it.

Here are a series of pics from last night of Jaime playing with one of his favorite Christmas toys.

Jaime received his Synagis shot today. By tonight, he was a bit cranky, OK, cranky for him...he was still smiley, but had some whines in between them. He had a low grade fever and some loose stool, too. We're still trying to decide if it's from his shot or his teeth. His gums are still very swollen. Hopefully he'll be feeling better tomorrow.

In other news, we had a delicious dinner tonight, courtesy of "Uncle" Dale. Thanks, Dale! Titi came to town, too. She's up for the weekend to visit with my Grandma. She had dinner and we stayed in (I know, SHOCKING, right?!?). Jared wanted to have family game night, so we played "Acquire" this evening...Tom won!
That's about all to report...the boys are in bed, we're not that far behind them!

Have a good one!
