Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Bed Time

All is well with Jaime. He just had a few bad apnea spells over the last 2 days causing him to choke, gag and throw up. Each of those episodes wipe him out. They are scary to watch, too...seeing Jaime not breath for a period of time...thank goodness for the O2.
Nothing else new to report. Here are some pics of Jaime this evening when he was getting ready for bed, just add O2 and a monitor...roll him on to his tummy and say "nighty-night." Enjoy!

Updated picture out of our front door this evening. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...let the schools close, let the schools close, let the schools close...that's what Tom and Jared were chanting earlier. HA!

Stay safe and warm out there...it's a cold, snowy one tonight.

  1. Sheryl,
Good to see Jamie's smiling face (as always). I'm sorry to hear that he still desats from time to time; hopefully, the episodes are much less frequent. I didn't know about the bumbo seat not being good for these babies. Where did you buy the sitting bench (5 in 1)? What brand is it? LOL, maybe I should get one for Carter? Let me know if you guys want to have a reunion in May or June sometime in Cincinnati? Talk to you soon!!
