1/4 Liter....Carrots?

There was no post yesterday because Jared and I had a hot date last night with Colleen and Connor. We went to the last "Movie in the Park" in our home tome. Last night's feature movie, "CARS." The boys loved it! They were dancing around with their glow sticks (provided by the city) every time a song came on during the movie. Jared even managed to bite open the glow stick and have glowing lips! That's right, my 6 year old put the stick in his mouth. Thank goodness those things are non-toxic! UGH! Anyway, we got home after 11:00 P.M. last night, as they didn't start the movie until 9:00 P.M. It was really a fun night for Colleen, the boys and I! Here are some photos of the boys dancing in front of the outdoor movie screen!

In Jaime news...well, we've officially weaned him down to 1/4 liter O2. He's currently satting at 100%. Woohoo! For somebody with a crummy right lung, he seems to be doing rather well! Also, when we were at Dr. Hellerstein's on Monday, I told her about the prune juice and rice cereal. She said that it was fine to try foods with him if he doesn't breathe hard during the feeding and as long as he poops OK (OK in Jaime's world, not OK for a normal person). Well, today, Jaime had his first taste of carrots. He actually liked them. I honestly think the boy likes to eat, he just burns so many calories doing so and with breathing in general, that he doesn't gain much weight. So, little by little we will add food to his diet. Today's carrot ingested amount was about 1 tablespoon. Again, it's a very slow process! Once we get going on food for real, I'm going to make my own baby food. Tom's mom bought me a great baby food making kit for Christmas last year...I can't wait to start using it!
Here are some pics of Jaime enjoying his carrots.

Finally, here are photos of Jaime from this afternoon. The first with his "boo-boo" lip. Tom just started teaching lessons at home again, well, this is the face Jaime kept making every time Tom and Jack played together. I wonder why, you'd think that Jaime would be used to this sound by now...guess things sound different in the womb. HA!

The second photo is of Jaime "hiding" from Mamarazzi. He was sucking his thumb behind that blanket. It's a new trick he's managed to learn. He also likes to flick out his nasal canula and suck on the side of it! Silly boy! Oh and if you're wondering why there's a rash on Jaime's face, well it's because he pulled off the O2 tabs and, sure enough, he had blisters under them! Perhaps we ought to follow up on the EB skin condition after all?

Before I go, I'd like to ask for everyone to send positive thoughts to our Cincy CDH friends! Carrie and Jeremy have been told that Carter's heart surgery will be scheduled in the very near future, because of this, their stay in the NICU will be significantly extended! Giavanna is still having feeding issues that are starting to affect her growth. Finally, Emily is back in Cincy for her appointments, including a heart cath that was performed this morning! Let's hope for good news all the way around!

Well, it's just about dinner time! Jacey, our neighbor down the street (AKA, Jared's 1st grade teacher's daughter-in-law), brought us a pan of lasagna for dinner tonight! Mmmmm, thanks Jacey!!!!

Wishing everyone a great evening!

  2. Poor guy...NO MORE TAPE! That is a cool idea to have a movie in the park, outside...I'm sure that young man of yours loved it! And Cars none the less...didn't he have shoes from that movie? Things are gonna start getting crazy coming up, ugh. The sooner the better, right? Talk to you soon.
