The last 24 hours have been the absolute craziest and hardest for Tom and I since we've been home from Cincy, as this was the Hemophilia Walk weekend! Last night, we had our team "thank you" cook-out and today was Walk Day. Normally these two events wouldn't be an issue, but things were very complicated having Jaime this year! We're both so exhausted...having said that, we still managed to have a fun weekend!
Last night's cook-out was quite interesting. Less than an hour before our cook-out, there were severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the area...AHHHH!!! Mother Nature was playing quite the joke on us! The beauty of living in a bungalow in Wickliffe is that there is NO ROOM inside to have parties...so, the garage becomes the "party room." So, last night, we crammed nearly 40 people in our two car garage! Thank goodness there were plenty of seats and tables...thanks Scott and Ed. The kids had a blast playing out in the rain...they were totally drenched by the end of the night!

After our dinner (we had burgers, brats, dogs...and all the fixings), Tom and I were presented with a gift from Tom's band. It was a box and inside the box was a poster (designed by my sister) that indicated that they, along with 7 other bands were hosting a benefit for our family on September 27th. We were totally SURPRISED! What an honor it is to have so much support from the community! Thank you Abby Normal and the Abby Wives so much for coordinating the benefit...sounds like it's going to be AWESOME! Titi, thank you for being our official personal graphic designer for not only the benefit, but for the Walk, too!

Let's talk about the Walk! The day started off like yesterday ended...POURING RAIN!
However, Mother Nature decided to give us a break and by the time we got to the Walk site (which was nearly an hour away), the sky had cleared! WOOOHOOO!!!!!
So, we met our FANTASTIC TEAM and lined up for the walk! Tom's band, Abby Normal and the Detroit Lean counted down the Walk start, played "Walking on Sunshine" and off we went!
Jaime and Jared's Helicopter Team...Spinning into Action!!! Titi designed the shirts and they were donated to the team from Grammy, Poppy and Titi! Thank you all! (Mom and Dad B. and Mom and Dad T., sorry you weren't able to join us today...we missed you guys-Dad, hope that back gets better soon! :-)

Our two little hemophiliacs with their gold medals after completing the walk! We're so proud of them!

We are also so proud of our team, too, together we raised $1840!!! It was great walking with everyone, thank you for braving the weather last night for our party and for getting up oh so early for the walk this morning! Also, thanks to all who donated to our team. We couldn't have done this without you!!!!

Please check out the rest of the pictures on the slide show on the side of the blog. If you click on any picture, it will take you to our Picasa Web Album to view the pictures in a larger size!
Thanks again to everyone for your support, wishing you all a restful Sunday!

Sheryl, guess I should've read this before responding to the e-mail! Glad the Walk was successful, despite all the rain. Congratulations on having such a great support team by hosting another benefit. Must say I'm a bit jealous..we've had ZERO! Oh well, we just keep plugging along.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday and rest :)
Hey there! Congrats on the success of your "walk"! I just wanted to say I hadn't yet perused your blog, but now that i have, what an encouragement. Sometimes it's really hard to feel like anyone's ever been through what I'm feeling, but there's so many CDH kids who have/are going through so much more than Max. It's so encouraging to see babies like yours get through such tough stuff...I guess we can too! So thanks!
