Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

The many faces of Jaime!

I took advantage of Jared being at school today and spent the later part of the morning doing therapy at home with Jaime. Here are some of the pics Mamarazzi took! Notice in the third photo way in the background, his monitor says 97 and 161? That means that he was satting at 97%...mind you on 1/4 liter and that his heart rate was 161...a bit "high" but I had him working!

This one was taken last night before Jaime went to bed! These 2 don't look related at all do they? HA!

Finally, the only new thing for today is Miriam from Lake County MR/DD office came over so that I could fill out the FINAL paperwork to get OT, PT and SP at home! The therapists will come once a month...probably until he is 3, at which time he will be reevaluated to see if he requires a "special needs" preschool. Now on the flip side, Dr. Hellerstein emailed me today and is requesting that Jaime starts OT at Rainbows in addition to the PT that he started yesterday. She also wants Jared to go back to therapy for his left shoulder and fine motor issues. So, we'll be back to what we used to call "Jerapy." (We're just adding "Jaimapy."
I'm off to roller blade while Jared rides his bike!

    He is so cute! You have an amazing baby boy. Jamie is the baby that gave me hope in my pregnancy. He was given almost no hope to survive, and look how amazing he is! Jamie has touched my heart more then you'll ever know. What a tough little guy. I'm sure your story gives so many other CDH mothers strength and hope. I know Jackson did all he could and fought till the end, but God had other plans. Jamie truely is a miracle. Rob loves to here about Jamie 2. Just always know that Jamie has touched us and so many others.
