Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Better Day...

Today started off a bit rough. I walked into Jaime looking like this....

By early afternoon, he was starting to perk up....

Late afternoon, he was having a good PT session with Angela. Jaime looked like he was driving a car using Angela's hands. HA!

By this evening, Jared held him and we were taking funny family photos.

Everything is STILL Negative, which is a good thing. Jaime is looking and feeling better overall. We don't know what was going on with him, but everyone is now suspecting a virus of some sort. He's back down to 1 1/2 liters O2, I imagine this will be weaned again tomorrow. He does have a picc line in where he is getting 2 antibiotics...just in case. Those will be d/c'd on Sunday. Jaime will be watched for a few days after that and barring an issues, will be released sometime late next week. We'll keep you posted!!!!!

Please continue to keep our CDH Friends, Carter and Giavanna, in your thoughts while they are going through their own issues! Thanks!

P.S. We have moved to an Extended Stay Hotel in Kentucky today, it's 8 minutes from the hospital instead of 20 minutes (and less expensive). And, I forgot to post pics from our visit to "The Cone" the other night. It's a famous ice cream store in West Chester, shaped like an ice cream cone. It was yummy and fun! Enjoy!
