Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Festival Time!

First things first...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SOPHIA! We love you and hope you had a fantastic day. We can't wait to see you on Sunday! ;-)

Tom's band played at the St. Justin Church Festival this evening. I went with the boys and my sister. It's so great to be home and be able to see all of my friends! It was a bit tricky navigating Jaime and all of his equipment, but Titi helped me (thanks!). It was also hard trying to find a spot under the tent away from smokers...we managed to find a spot in the back corner just outside of the tent.
Jared had a blast on the dance floor dancing to his Daddy's band with Colleen's kids, Lauren and "friend" Connor,
Paula's kids Chloe and Connor (pictured below)

and Katie's older kids Monica, Sarah, and Nate. They sure tuckered him out! HA!
Jaime didn't mind checking out Jonathan (Katie's newest little one!)

and being held by Katie

Sarah (Katie's Daughter)

and
Paula.

Thank you to all of my friends for welcoming us home...it was WONDERFUL to see all of you and your families! I can't believe how big all of your kids got! It was also great to see the band (our extended family)...you guys were AWESOME, as usual! :-)

As for Jaime...he had a good day! He drank 100% of his bottles throughout the night and all day today. I think him pulling his NG was his way of telling us he didn't need it anymore. Giving him meds was still a little tricky, but some we put in 10mls of formula, others we put in a nipple and let him "drink" them. Hey, whatever works, right? Also, Debbie from HRC in Cincy called again to check on Jaime and increase his calories again from 24 to 26. They must really want to beef him up! We think he's perfect the way he is! (He's even starting to get "rolls" on his thighs...to this day, Jared has NEVER had that.)

Well, I'm off to do some homework. Tomorrow will be a busy day, as it is "friend" Connor's 6th birthday and Joe, the "light guy" for the band, nominated our family as the recipients for the annual 100 Inning Softball Charity Game. This will be played tomorrow. Thanks to Joe and all of the participants and donors. A special "thank you" to my brother for providing food and beverages for the event! You guys are AWESOME, your generosity will help us more than you will ever know! See you tomorrow!

Good Night!

  1. You are rediculous!!!! The stars aligned...Jackson is at a friends house on "vacation" so he isn't back at the apartment waiting for us. We are in the stupid pod again, so we are required to leave for shift change. We happen to be neighbors with Nick and Sarah, and we have to eat! Oh, and our son is completely out of it...a zombie. We sit at his bedside all day and he may or may not be awake, but is out of it either way! YOU DON'T SMELL:) HA! Freak! Geez. OK, I feel better now. Anywho, I'm glad to see you all getting out and about so often. I will have questions for you when you come back on Tuesday. Jeremy will probably be back at work, so it may only be me around...if that is OK;) Talk at you soon. Keep having some great adventures.
