As mentioned last night, Jaime's tests came back negative. Well, that just meant that MORE tests needed to be done. He had a chest x-ray, abdominal X-ray, abdominal ultra sound, a lumbar puncture, more blood cultures, blood tests and a stool culture for c-diff. So far, the ONLY thing that came back indicating an infection or inflammation is the CD64, that went up to 4.08 from 3.69. (The normal range is 1.26, I believe.)
Jaime is still having a low grade fever on and off, he's very pale, his heart rate is elevated, his respiratory status is unstable and get this...he's back on 2 liters O2 nasal canula. UGH! He even had all of his feeds in his tube today, he took a total of 25mls by bottle. He was actually whimpering today, frowning and crying with real tears. We feel so bad for him. The drs. are baffled, they don't know what's going on with Jaime. Tomorrow he is set to have a picc line placed at 9:00 A.M. He had an IV that infiltrated and was stuck 3 times to place another one...God willing that one will last until the picc line can be placed.
Not a good update, I know! There's nothing else to tell, except that we did laundry this morning and went to the hospital at noon and stayed up there until a little bit ago. Long day!
Please say a little prayer for Jaime, in hopes it will help him get better quickly. (Rumor has it, we could be here for another 10 days or so.)
Until tomorrow....

I am so sorry that Jaime is sick, and that they can't seem to find the cause of the infection. Jaime and your family are always in our thoughts and prayers.

Sheryl, I'm so sad for you. I was so glad that Jaime was gonna break free from the RCNIC. Having to stay and not knowing what's wrong with him...what's up with that? You tell Dr's C, L, & K to get him well ASAP, Emily's orders!!!
