An Interesting Day!

Jaime is doing just fine. I think he's enjoying not having his ET tube, we are, too. We all got to hold him again today. I imagine that will be the norm around here.
Changes today, well, there weren't too many. Jaime FINALLY got his sutures removed from his incision. Tom was there when it was done, Jaime didn't like it at all. His Versed was weaned, he has an Echo tomorrow and will go up on his feeds again tomorrow. He wasn't peeing all that well today, not quite sure why, hopefully this will change tomorrow.
Over all it was a good day.

The big news today was that I got to be part of a Kangaroo Mother Care training session this evening. Cincy Children's Hospital is hosting Dr. Bergman from Cape Town, South Africa. He and his wife developed and implemented Kangaroo Mother Care. This is the practice of "intra-hospital maternal-infant skin-to-skin contact."He came to Cincy to express the importance of Kangaroo Care in the RCNIC and to train the staff on how to do it. He brought with him a special shirt to wear when administering this special technique. It was really great and yes, I got to keep the shirt. :-) I've posted some photos that one of the nurses took during the demonstration. Jaime did great with it. So, that's about it for today. I just wanted to add a quick "thank you" to all who have shown continued support for our family! It's hard to respond back to everyone, just know that we do appreaciate all of the positive thoughts, comments, emails, cards, special presents and prayers! I'm not sure we could have come this far without all of you! So, thank you! :-)
