Jaime's World: Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!!

Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!!!

So, today is Tom's 39th Birthday!
He woke up to Jared and I giving him a present. (It was a music program for his computer so that he can write his own scores, in fact, he's composing one as I type.)
When we got to the hospital this morning, Jesika, from child life came in with a present from Jaime. It was the best photo of him ever, taken by Terri (child life)! That's right every now again Jaime DOES smile! :-)

We're just here at the hospital waiting for rounds, rumor has it that we'll be weaning his high flow today...keep your fingers crossed! So far, Jaime's having a good day! He's swinging in his swing right now trying to decided whether or not he wants to go to sleep, ha!
