Hello Jaime's World Fans,
Today was uneventful! Jaime is still holding his own at 3 liters, 21% O2. In rounds today the drs. said that providing all goes well, Jaime will be weaned to 2 liters on Monday and they will start condensing his feeds. Right now he is getting continuous feeds through his NG. Eventually, they will be timed like "normal" babies.
He's still having poop issues. He's able to go, it just literally takes everything out of him to go, so he's being put on prune juice twice a day. Other than that, he's doing well. He's such a strong little guy, Tom and I are so proud of him! Remember we were told that Jaime had a 20% chance of survival!!!!
In other Cincy news: We had another wonderful cook-out at Bev's house tonight. We even got, Carrie and Jeremy (Carter A.'s parents) and Beth (Carter M.'s mom) to come with us! There were 5 CDH families in all. We had a blast, as did the two legged and FOUR legged kids!
After the cook-out, I went back up to see Jaime. He was happy and awake. I even managed to get a shot of him smiling, but he blinked his eyes with the flash...darn it! It's still a cute picture, though!
Oh, and just a quick update on our CDH friends:
Kamryn had her repair surgery today and did AWESOME! CONGRATS and welcome to the "Recently Repaired" club! Her twin sister Brooke is getting better from her bout with pneumonia.
Also, Carter M. was EXTUBATED today and he's doing well!
Carter A. is tolerating his NG feeds and 3 liters like a champ!
Gia is post-op day 3, doing GREAT and her pulmonary hypertension continues to improve!
We also have a new baby boy who has joined the Cincy CDH family, he had to be put on ECMO late last night. Please pray for this little guy and his family as they begin their CDH journey.

Isn't it so weird how "wrong"everyone can be. We were given (at one time) an 80% chance that Maxton would live. One of my friends at Vandy was given pretty much no chance that her baby would live and he did. It just proves that in the CDH journey no one really knows until the baby gets here... :-) Glad to hear Jaime is doing well!! You guys are always in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this with babies and old people and poop issues? Glad that Jamie is doing so well. Love those round little cheaks. ...just start feeding this kid soon so we can make some Italian food and fill him with pasta and meatballs. Miss you all, our love and prayers. Dale and Majken
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you all could make it last night! Sometimes you just have to get away. All of you have been away from home for so long, whatever we can do help, it is our pleasure! Bev & I are so very lucky to have a world renowned hospital here and to have had our children treated there, I guess, we just want to pay it back :)

Jaime is still so adorable, he is such a miracle!
All of those CDH kiddos are kickin' butt! Please let the parents of the little guy on ECMO know that we are praying for him!
