Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

Hmmm, what should I post today....

Jaime had another boring day today. For those of you who don't know....boring is GOOD in CDH World! He's still on 3 liters and on his 24 ml/hr formula at 28 calories. From what we heard, Jaime did spit up last night. He apparently spit up this afternoon sometime, too because when we walked in before dinner, Jaime's clothes were wet, he smelled and was filthy. He had an extremely wet diaper and poo, too! I wasn't overly thrilled by this as one could imagine. Fortunately, Tom and I had just come from Target where I bought Jaime some new bath soap. So, you guessed it, Tom, Jared and I all bathed Jaime. He LOVES his baths, we do, too! He smelled like Lavender/Vanilla by the time we were done. He was awake during the bath, but slowly started to fall asleep during it. We got him changed in his warm green sleeper and Tom rocked him all of the way to sleep. We left him fast asleep on his tummy in his bed. Tom just got back from visiting again and he was still sleeping. I'm going to go back up in a little while.

We weren't there for rounds...they are so hard to catch on the weekends, but we heard that Jaime is due for his 2 month immunizations...imagine that...FINALLY, Jaime needs something a "normal, well baby" would need! Of course the administration of this might not be so normal because of the hemophilia, but we'll see. Jared has to get Factor before his shots and ice for 10 min. immediately after, so I'm thinking the same may be true for Jaime. We'll know more on Monday. Also, he's due for an eye exam...again, we'll know more Monday!

That's about it. Tom and Jared are heading back to Cleveland tomorrow for about 10 days or so. Hopefully they'll be able to catch up with some of you!

Take care and Happy Father's Day to all of the Dad's tomorrow!!!!

Love,
Sheryl
