Today, Stacy "forced" me to leave the hospital for a few hours so that we could go to the spa. We both got mani/pedi's, this was my birthday gift from Titi. We went to this town called Old Montgomery. It was really cute. We got manicures first, then went to lunch in the town square and headed back to the spa for pedicures. It was really fun. The pictures show us being silly in the spa!
Before we went to the spa, we obviously spent time with Jaime. Thursday, I purchased Jaime some "ring letters." I did this mostly to give him something to hold instead of pulling on his feeding tube and nasal canula. Anyway, I spent Friday rocking Jaime and "teaching" him the letters. Well, when we were playing with the letters today, Jaime, all by himself (LOL) held up his initials. Then, he spelled his name above his head. That Jaime is sooooo smart and such a quick learner, too...tee, hee!
While we were busy playing with letters and being pampered, Tom and Jared were back home in Cleveland eating ice cream on the grass under the wind turbine at the Science Center. After that, Tom took Jared to Scott's, so that he could go off to his gig. Uncle Scott had "fun" with Jared, Connor and Sophia. We heard that they even visited Grandma's house. Thanks Scott, for babysitting Jared tonight.
Finally, just some quick RCNIC info. Jaime was weaned back down to 4 liters O2. He was at 4 liters before he got sick the other day. He is also at his full feeds at 20 ml/hr on 26 cal. fortified formula. The next feeding plan is to put him on a feeding schedule-like 2 oz every 3 hours through the feeding tube. Once Jaime gets down to 2 liters, he can start oral feeds. At this time, we have stopped the breast milk feeds until he starts feeding orally. We're doing this more for taste, as breast milk is much sweeter than formula. We want him to have as positive experience as we can with oral stimulation. So far, he's still loving his binky, he sounds like Maggie Simpson from the Simpson's when he sucks...LOL!
In other RCNIC news, Jaime's buddy, Carter was extubated today! We're so thrilled for the Adler Family. This event allows them to hold and bond with Carter even more, it's truly an exciting milestone in every CDH family! Congrats, Little Man! :-)
Also, Miss Gia seems to be holding her own. She's such a strong, beautiful little girl. And Carter #2 is also trying to get better from all of his mishaps. All of these babies are just so amazing!
As for Grandma Fields, she is in a rehab facility working on getting stronger every day. We send her our love and prayers for a speedy return home.
Oh my, I just looked at the clock, it's almost 3:00 A.M. I will close for now...
Good Night to all!
