Jared's 6th Birthday Weekend!!!

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST BROTHER AND SON EVER!!!!

Also, a special happy birthday wish to Aunt Elaine, Jared's birthday buddy!!!

Yep, that's right, today is Jared's 6th birthday! We celebrated all weekend long. I didn't post yesterday because I was too tired from all of the "partying" and traveling we did. After spending the morning with Jaime, we drove up to Columbus to have a cook out at Titi's house for Jared's 6th birthday. This was my 1st time far away from Jaime. Tammy was his nurse and he was just fine with her! He was still on 4 liters and for the most part at 21% (A.K.A. Room air). Jaime had a good, uneventful day!

Jared, on the other hand DID have an eventful day. After a 2 hour drive, Jared got to see his cousins' Connor and Sophia. They had a blast being silly with each other. Grammy, Poppy, Uncle Scott and Titi were there, too! Jared wanted a Route 66 birthday, so that's exactly what he got. From Route 66 sodas, to signs and a birthday cake. It was the PERFECT party for a 6 year old! (Thanks, Titi for inviting all of us to your house this year!)
After eating, snacking, playing, opening presents and having cake and ice cream, we headed back to Cincinnati to see Jaime. It was too late for Jared to come up, so I went up by myself. At this point Jaime was a little fussy, Heidi and I got him calm and put him to sleep. From what I heard, he slept for 6 hours.

Today, we went to church, then to the hospital. Jaime had been fussy this morning and even threw up a few times. The drs. ordered an abdominal x-ray, but it was negative. They are thinking him being fussy and vomiting was from withdrawal. They have almost completely weaned his Ativan and Methadone. Needless to say, he's back to his twice a day Ativan and he was much more calm.
He even got to be held by Uncle Scott and Grammy for the very first time! Grammy even got to help bathe Jaime, too!!!
While Grammy, Poppy and I were at the hospital with Jaime, Tom took Jared to the Lego Store. Jared wanted a Lego Rescue Helicopter, so that's what he bought along with a Lego tow truck with some of his birthday money.
After that, we all went to Choo-Choo Restaurant for dinner! Thanks Poppy for the great find, Jared LOVED the restaurant!
Next, we went to see Jaime. Jared got to hold him for a little bit. When 8:30 P.M. rolled around, I walked "home" with Jared. We ate cake outside on the deck, then came up to the room for a shower and bed.
Tom stayed with Jaime until he fell asleep!

So, that just about sums up our weekend! Be sure to check out the slide show on the side of the blog for photos from the weekend!

Hope your weekend was as nice as ours!

And thank you to everyone who sent cards, birthday wishes, emails, texts and presents to Jared. He loved them all!

Happy Flag Day!

Love,
Sheryl

  1. Sheryl, THANKS for the update. Please hug our little 6 year old boy. We miss him, and all of you. Can't wait for all of you to return home - you and Tom have built in baby sitters. Our love, Dale and Majken
