Jaime Albert Trost was diagnosed with Right-Sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia at 19 weeks gestation. He was born at 34 weeks gestation on 4/16/09 as a hemophiliac with his liver and intestines in his chest. Jaime had his 1st repair surgery at 23 days old. He re-herniated in September 2009, causing his bowels, kidney and liver to be up in his chest. He had his 2nd repair surgery at 194 days old. Though Jaime still has many medical challenges ahead of him, today he is a thriving KINDERGARTENER who has beaten the odds!

We have an OR time!

We're sitting by Jaime's bed side waiting for Dermatology to come and check out his sores. His face looks worse under the "vent bridge" tabs, but better on his lips.
While we've been waiting for Derm, Jaime's NP came and told us that surgery is now scheduled for Friday at 7:45 A.M. The surgeon wanted a scheduled time rather than being an "add-on" to tomorrow's schedule.

Jaime's sedated at the moment, his sores were bothering him (we think) and he got really agitated this morning, "crying" and desating down to the teens. The respiratory therapist had to bag him to bring him back up. We were told that this was about a 10 second process and he bumped back up right away. It was all due to his agitation. He did have a "bad" blood gas at 5:00 A.M., but they also discovered that his Flolan(sp?) for his lungs hadn't been on all night. Apparently, Jaime wasn't the only baby that this happened to, so an incident report was made. He's just fine now.
We're waiting for his noon blood gas to come back...it's being drawn as I type. (Tom and I are sporting our pastel band aid masks at the moment!) The gas is back...much better than before! Yea!!!

In other news, Jennifer passed along Jaime's saint. Here's info on him: http://saints.sqpn.com/saintjef.htm
Here's a fact about today's date: Blessed Jaime Hilario Barbal-Beatified 29 April 1990 by Pope John Paul II at Rome, Italy.

Thanks for info, Jenn!!!

I'll post more when Derm comes!
